KENWOOD, Queens — A new report from real estate firm Apartment List has found that if you live in a downtown Manhattan mall, you’re spending more money than in other areas of the city.
For every $1 spent in the mall, shoppers can expect to pay $3.20 in taxes, $2.80 in tolls and $2 in fees, according to Apartment Lists.
The analysis also found that shoppers in the Queens area are spending more than shoppers in other parts of the country.
In New York City, a full $1.80 spent at a single-family apartment costs $3,600, and $1,200 at a duplex costs $4,200.
ApartmentList found that in Manhattan, a single apartment in the city’s East Village costs $1.,200 to $2,400.
In Brooklyn, the average price for a single home is $1 million, and an apartment in Brooklyn’s East Flatbush costs $2 million.
Apartment List’s analysis found that the most expensive areas of Manhattan are the Queens neighborhoods of Bedford-Stuyvesant and Bedford-Huntington-Tower.
Brooklyn is the second most expensive neighborhood in the nation after Los Angeles, and the city is also home to more than 2 million people, making it the second-most expensive place in the country for renters, according in the report.
