In 1996, Cottonwood Mall was an under-performing mall with a revolving door of mall employees. At the time, the mall was undergoing a massive redevelopment to revitalize its core. The new owners of the mall, the California-based company JB Partners, planned to use the revitalization to rebrand and modernize the mall. However, the renovation project was plagued by controversy and was quickly pushed to...
If you’re looking for a place to spend your weekend, you’ve found it in the nation’s capital.
That’s according to a new survey from the Bureau of Labor Statistics that found the National Mall has been one of the most violent places in the United States.
The Mall of America, which has hosted the opening of the Lincoln Memorial and the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, was the most deadly location in the U.S. according to the survey, with more than 50 people shot there last year.
More: It’s one of those places that makes you wonder what would happen if the U:D: had the Mall of the Americas.
It’s no surprise, then, that the National Park Service has been cracking down on the Mall’s activities since the first mass shooting in 1994.
In January of this year, the agency launched a new initiative to prevent people from bringing guns to the mall.
“This includes prohibiting people from entering or leaving the mall without a valid permit, as well as limiting visitors from bringing firearms onto or around the mall,” the park service said in a statement.
But what about the mall’s other deadly threats?
Here are five that have plagued the Mall in the past.
The Death of a Teenager in an Old Fashioned The mall has been a hub of violence for decades.
At least 16 people were killed at the mall in 2015, and at least seven people were injured in shootings and shootings of others during the same period.
It was a grim reminder of how much gun violence remains a problem in America.
The most recent fatal shooting took place in April when a 16-year-old was gunned down at the Mall, which was then a popular spot for teens in the neighborhood.
The incident prompted President Donald Trump to call for the closure of the mall, which he has since called a “toxic” place where people are “living in fear of getting killed.”
The Shooting of an African-American Woman in the ’90s The murder of Trayvon Martin in Florida in 2012 sparked protests against police brutality and racism.
The mall, however, is also notorious for its long history of violence.
A study released in 2017 by the National Safety Council found that between 1990 and 2014, there were 11,724 shootings and 12,934 homicides in the mall alone.
In 2015 alone, there was at least three incidents of shooting, including a shooting that killed a 16year-olds daughter.
“At least 10% of Mall’s violent crimes and deaths involve a gun, according to data from the Department of Justice,” the National Center for Public Safety said in an analysis of mall incidents.
“Mall was the number one location for gun violence and the number four location for murders, according with a total of 12,000 people killed and 5,600 injured.”
The “Guns Are Forever” Program The mall is a haven for people looking to get into the firearms business.
The gun show is a staple of the Mall.
There’s even a place in the middle of the center where people can get their hands on their weapons.
But it’s also been home to the “Gangs are Forever” program, in which people can buy guns and ammunition online for less than $20.
A 2016 report by the Violence Policy Center said that while the program may be legal, it doesn’t work.
“The ‘Gangs Are Forever’ program is not a viable solution for the mass shootings that we see every year at the malls,” the report read.
“Gun violence at malls is not the solution.”
The Killing of a 14-Year-Old In 1997, the mall was the scene of a massive shooting when two teenage boys were shot and killed by police officers.
Two of the boys were identified as Matthew and James Wilson, and their bodies were later found inside a Macy’s store.
Their bodies were then burned.
“In this case, the police officer shot the boys as they tried to flee, causing the deaths of both of them,” the family’s attorney said at the time.
The next year, police in Dallas, Texas, found two teenage girls dead at a mall in a similar fashion.
The girls’ bodies were found a few months later, having been shot at.
The case was eventually settled out of court for $150,000.
The Murder of a 19-Year Old In 1995, a man named Jason Gann was found dead at the end of the escalators in the Macy’s Center parking lot.
Police said that Gann had been stabbed multiple times, but that they could not say whether the murder was linked to the Mall or the shopping center.
“There’s a lot of speculation about it,” said Adam Kincaid, a former New York City police officer who is now a professor of criminology at Northeastern University.
“It could be anything from a robbery gone wrong, a robbery, it could be the killing of a child.
They’re still trying to piece together exactly what
