The Mall has been on the market for almost a year, and it has gone for just under $500 million.
The mall’s fate was a surprise.
The Fairfield and Middlesex County governments had planned to close the mall by Christmas, but that deal fell through.
In December, Middlesex county announced that it was buying the mall for $500.
Mall owner Robert G. Guggenheim said Monday that the mall will reopen sometime this fall, possibly in early December.
The fairfield mayor, Mark K. Smith, said the mall was expected to reopen by Christmas.
