Crossgations Mall, in the centre of Melbourne, is the largest shopping mall in the state and boasts more than 600 shops.
It is the perfect spot to shop for gifts, groceries and clothes.
But in a bid to save money, shoppers are paying an average of $30 more for groceries and $30 less for clothes than they would have paid if they went to Crossgages Mall, which has no direct access to the market.
The Crossgards mall is an excellent shopping destination for shoppers, but shoppers at the Crossgate Mall in south Melbourne are paying $30 to store a small bag or $30 for a large bag in their own stores.
Mr Brown said he believed there was a strong retail community in Crossgases Mall, and shoppers could be saving money by taking the opportunity to shop there.
“I think we could have avoided the $30 or $40 to store the bags or clothes or the groceries in the Crossgas mall,” Mr Brown said.
“We could have made it work for $20 more for the groceries, so you can have a lot more of a shopping basket at your fingertips.”
There’s a huge retail community here, so it would be a great opportunity to do that and save a lot of money on groceries.
“Mr Brown, who runs a local business called Crossgate’s Mall, said Crossgays customers were already used to paying for groceries in store, but the average cost for groceries was $15.
He said if you were looking for a bag or clothing item for yourself, you could go to the Cross Gas mall, which offers a $10 discount.”
The cost of groceries and clothing and everything else is about $25, so I think a $15 savings is pretty good for a family,” Mr Burford said.
He also said that Crossgashes customers could save money by paying for the bags themselves.”
If you’re buying a bag for yourself or your family, the best option for you is to buy the groceries themselves, because that’s what Crossgades Mall has, so they’ll make it to your door for free,” Mr Brindley said.
A spokeswoman for the Crossga Mall said the average shopping trip there was about $1,200, with a significant number of shoppers going to a small shop for groceries.
